Future of Computer Vision

Class:
The Future of AI Computer Vision

It is the year 2030. How is our world transformed by cameras that can see and understand the world?

This four week course will dive deep into one of the most fascinating technologies in our world today - computer vision.

First, we will play with fossils from Into the Future’s collection. Our learning journey will begin 500 million years ago when trilobites became the first creatures to have complex eyes. We will explore how their ability to see and understand the world transformed all life in ancient oceans.

Then we will look at the emergence of human sight and bigger brains — exploring how vision transformed our evolutionary path.

With this foundation we will look at a future where humans combine AI and computer cameras to see and understand the world.

Our focus will be on next generation applications of computer vision that empower individuals and societies to learn and grow, heal the planet, and discover new insights about ourselves and the world.

We will look at computer vision uses in the fields of class interest including:

  • Transportation (Autonomous systems)

  • Healthcare

  • Supply Chains / Retail

  • Environmental / Ecosystem & Animal Conservation Protection

  • Empowering People with Disabilities

  • Personal & Community Safety

  • Robotics

  • Manufacturing Environments

By the end of this class, we will create a set of concepts for new products, services and companies that leverage computer vision for enhancing humanity’s ability to learn, grow and solve enormous challenges impacting our society and the planet.
